Accomodation at Amherst Heritage Centre

Heritage House Lodge

A view of the River Medway from Fort AmherstHeritage House Lodge will complete Phase 6 of the Conservation, Research and Education project for the Amherst Heritage Centre. This will be an exhibition hall on the lower floor with 2 upper floors offering accomodation for Schools, Youth Groups and Conference users.

The accommodation will enable the Amherst Heritage Centre to deal with overnight visits and it will further enhance the education packages for a hands on approach to teaching. With the ability to handle overnight visits this makes the education centre more inclusive for all schools and youth groups within the UK and Europe. Fort Amherst offers an impressive resource for living history learning with not only a natural environment, but also an impressive tunnel system, defended ditches and Napoleonic period buildings, and only minutes from the hussle and bussle of Chatham town centre.

The development will also act as part of the bigger picture for the regeneration of Medway and the Thames Gateway. Medway will become a top class university city boasting some impressive facilities, the Amherst Heritage Centre will become a centre of excellence in the field of educational visits. Medway will truly earn its place on the map as a city of learning and the Amherst Heritage Centre are proud to be part of it.

The cost of this development is over £700,000 and will become a vital resource for the Great Lines City Park and the Amherst Heritage Centre. Although this is an ambitious project, we are confident that it is a vital addition to Fort Amherst and will enable more children to experience the delights that we have to offer.

We currently in negotiations of the location of new Development with various parties.

This facility will be managed by Concept Idea's on the behalf of the Amherst Heritage Centre
