Belvedere Place
The Amherst Heritage Centre is undergoing exciting building works for its new Belvedere Place Education Complex. A spokesman for the Amherst Heritage Centre annouced that the new facilties should be ready to open in mid 2008, which enables the Amherst Heritage Centre to operate School trips during the Autunm and winter season!
Belvedere Place will offer a modern and contemporary space for schools to use whether to work as workshops or as a space within which to eat lunch. It will also house new openplan office facilties for the administration staff and the education officers, which will enhance the dynamic operations of the Amherst Heritage Centre. This has been heralded as a vital investment in Fort Amherst's Future by the centre board of directors.
The Cost of Belvedere Place is yet to be finialised however we see it as an essential project for the Amherst Heritage Cente and Fort Amherst. On completion, this building will not only be able to deal with schools but will also be used for meetings and other functions. The Building is 18 metres by 6 metres and the whole space will be open plan and will have full length windows on the side facing the River Medway which frames the fantastic views of Historic Rochester and Medway.
This development is the firm foundation for a bright future for Amherst Heritage Centre and is part of the essential redevelopment of Fort Amherst.
